Accommodation for students

We work with the University of St Andrews to offer a range of accommodation options for our students.

An example: Whitehorn Hall opened its doors to students for the first time in October 2018. It is named after Katharine Whitehorn, British journalist, writer and columnist and first female Rector of the University of St Andrews from 1982 to 1985.

The new building is four-storey high, adjacent to University Hall in Kennedy Gardens and located very near the Sports Centre. It is only a 15-minute walk from the town centre

Overview

  • Furnished single bedrooms.
  • Shared kitchen facilities between 5 residents
  • Communal areas include a main social space, games room, cinema room, private dining room, music room and study rooms with access to communal facilities at University Hall including a computer room, three commons rooms, games room, music room, two libraries, a senior study room and laundry.
  • All bed sizes are small double (4' wide - 120cm)
  • 2 wheelchair accessible rooms

Accommodation for families and couples

We work with the University of St Andrews to offer a range of accommodation options for our students.

The University has a selection of accommodation within halls of residences for couples; students with families will have to seek either University-managed properties or private accommodation.

An example: David Russel Apartments (‘DRA’) is a modern complex, completed in 2004. It is conveniently located for the University Sports Centre and various Science buildings on the North Haugh. It is only a 15-minute walk from the town centre

DRA offers the feel of private accommodation, with the comfort of knowing that support, help and advice is available when needed. DRA is unique in having its own bar

Overview:

  • Furnished study bedroom with a double bed with en suite shower and toilet
  • Kitchen recess with basic utensils and facilities
  • IT suite with 33 computers
  • Entertainment room with a media player, Xbox, and a large screen projection TV and is open all hours
  • Bistro - serves catered breakfasts every day as well as dinners Monday to Friday and lunch at the weekends
  • Bar
  • Laundry (16 washers and 17 dryers which are card operated – you can buy a card from the card dispensers in the facilities building)
